EFFECTIVE CHANGE MANAGEMENT: Operating in "Continuous Beta" Mode
The world operates in "continuous beta" mode and companies must do likewise.
Change
management cannot be delegated: it involves everyone, from the CEO
down. Change
— both external and internal — must be managed, or business will be
haphazard and chaotic. Unless you initiate and manage needed changes, then
change will happen to you, not
for you. In fact, 80% of change
initiatives fail because they are ill-conceived or mismanaged.
To effectively manage change, you must be ahead of the curve, anticipating change and deciding what you need to initiate. You must
understand the context of change, what needs to be changed, and how to drive
and manage that change.
Business must re-think and re-invent itself — just as a slow-moving
caterpillar becomes a fast-flying butterfly. You need a comprehensive,
company-wide “change-oriented” culture, agile attitude, and ongoing operating process. Otherwise there is no progress, no growth.
